I’ll be forever grateful to The Western Confucian for introducing me to the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Watching this clip brings back fond memories of growing up in the area they’re from. As a kid in the 60s and 70s you could still hear Bluegrass if you got the right people together at a family reunion or neighborhood get together. I can remember seeing people play moonshine jugs and spoons, but never sticks.
The banjo was always my favorite. Maybe this is a reason why: From the “About” page…“The nuances of piedmont stringband music stem from the demographics of the piedmont and thereby its focus on the banjo as the lead instrument.”
